Derek Gale is the director of community building & allocations for the Jewish Federation of Greater Kansas City. In this role, he is responsible for bringing together and partnering with the leaders of a variety of Jewish agencies and congregations to increase impact, to help identify and resolve significant issues, and to strategize about how to meet unmet or emerging needs in the Kansas City Jewish community. Derek is well positioned to do this work after more than three years leading fundraising efforts for the same organization (in 2016, the organization raised more than $8 million).
Previously, Derek served as director of marketing & communications for an independent school in Chicago, where he was instrumental in growing both total funds raised and the total number of students in the school. Other notable philanthropic work includes creating and founding Kansas City Restaurant Week, which has resulted in raising more than $1.4 million to benefit a variety of Kansas City nonprofit organizations.
Derek and his wife, Amy, have a 2.5-year-old son and a 4-month-old daughter.
